Q: What is ReviewYou?

A: ReviewYou is a service that provides recording artists with insightful, honest, excellently-written reviews of their albums and singles. Our reviews are a blend of the Writer’s opinion of the music and a technical critique of its merit, and are written by members of our seasoned, music-crazy stable of Writers. ReviewYou focuses solely on albums and singles, and does not write press releases or review DVDs, concerts, or venues.*

ReviewYou is not a PR firm.  We do not place your reviews in magazines, newspapers, blogs, or any other form of publication.  We simply get the review written, and put it in your hands.

*ReviewYou is now offering Bio writing services in addition to reviews. If you have any questions about the Bio writing service please email the ReviewYou Editor.

Q: Does my music have to be officially released on a CD, or can it be in MP3 format?

A: Either CD or MP3 format are great for us, and we’re happy to review your album whether it’s been officially released or not.

Q: If I prefer, can I pick my Writer from the list on your website?

A: Yes.

Q: When will my review be done?

A: Your completed review will be emailed to you within 12 business days of the date your Writer receives your music.

Q: How long will my review be?

A: Full-album reviews are usually between 600-800 words. Single song reviews are usually between 300-400 words.

Q: Will the Writer review every song on the album?

A: The Writers will review the entire album, with the vast majority of the songs, many times all of them, being specifically reviewed by name in the review. If one or two songs are not specifically mentioned in the review they were still listened to and reviewed and contributed to the Writers overall opinions about the album. However, a track by track review is not always delivered.

Q: Will my review be positive or negative?

A: That depends on your music and the Writer’s perception of it. Your album will be put in the hands of a Writer who is experienced in writing about the the genre(s) that your music fits into, so you can be assured of it receiving fair and knowledgeable consideration. We guarantee you an insightful, honest, professionally-written review, but due to the subjective nature of opinion-based writing, we make no guarantees about the positive or negative tone that your review may have.

Q: How should I credit my review Writer when posting and sharing my review?

A:  By their name and ReviewYou, or by their name alone.  For example, “Annie Reuter, Review You” or “Annie Reuter.”

Q: Will my review appear on your website?

A:  Reviews will only be posted to ReviewYou.com upon request.  So if you want your review up on our site make sure you tell the ReviewYou Editor.

Q: What if I don’t like my review?

A: It depends on what you don’t like about it. If you feel the review is poorly-written as far as grammar, syntax, structure, and other technical elements, the ReviewYou Editor will assess the technical merit of the review and make adjustments, if necessary.

If you disagree with the Writer’s opinion of your music, or feel that the review is unfair, the ReviewYou Editor will assess your complaint. Due to the subjective nature of opinion-based writing, we handle these issues on a case-by-case basis.

And you can always take a quote(s) from the review and use that in your press kit if you do not wish to post the entire review.
